Audience Participation Packs & Guidelines
We know you’re responsible adults and we’re okay with respectful audience participation. Please read the info below. We don’t want to embarrass you in front of your friends by asking you to leave, or worse, have you cause damage to our historic building.
Packs are $10 and will be available for preorder HERE or for purchase before the show.
You are welcome to build your own kit, using appropriate items (see below). Any bags brought to the theater could be subject to search.
Items should be thrown IN THE AIR. Do not throw items at the stage or screen.
What’s in the kit:
Card explaining when to use each prop.
Rice: Tossed in the air during the wedding scene.
Water gun: Sprayed in the air during the rainstorm scene.
Newspaper: Used to cover your head during the rainstorm scene as Janet does.
Glow stick: Waved in the air during the “there’s a light” verse of the song Over at the Frankenstein Place.
Rubber gloves: Put on and snapped whenever Frank snaps his gloves during the lab scene.
Noisemakers: Used when the Transylvanians respond to Frank’s speech with noisemakers.
Confetti: Tossed in the air after the Charles Atlas Song reprise, as the Transylvanians are throwing confetti.
Party Hat: Put on when Frank puts his on during the dinner scene.
What’s NOT in the kit, but you CAN bring:
Balloon: Used during “Science Fiction Double Feature”, opening song. Pop the balloon after the line “When Worlds Collide”
Toilet paper: Tossed in the air when Dr. Scott enters the lab and Brad calls out “Great Scott!”
Bell: Rang when Frank sings the line: “did you hear a bell ring?” in the Planet Schmanet Janet song.
Sponge: Tossed in the air when Columbia says to Frank, “you’re like a sponge!”
Cards: Tossed in the air during the “I’m Going Home” when Frank sings “cards for sorrow, cards for pain.”
What is NOT ALLOWED, and why:
Lighters, candles, or open flame during the “there’s a light” verse in Over at the Frankenstein Place. A no-no for obvious reasons. We love our theatre and also there’s a fire code.
Any squirt gun larger than a pistol, i.e. Supersoakers, etc. Excessive water on your fellow movie-goers may make you some new enemies, and we don’t want that to happen.
Hot dogs or prunes are sometimes thrown at certain points in the movie, but these are messy items that become dangerous if stepped on. Leave your pocket weenie at home.
